We have made the unfortunate decision to have to relocate our April-June 2011 receptions at our Stowe location to other venues. I know it is probably of little comfort or consolation but we have worked up until about 12 noon today to search for a solution with the city and simply we could not come to a resolution that could be achieved in a timely manner, the news media coverage has made it even more difficult as the phone is simply ringing nearly non stop but we are doing EVERYTHING we can to make this right and at the very least help find new venues for all of our brides. We maintain that the building IS safe and would have made for a very fun and affordable wedding. We are working with Jessica at Event Directive to help relocate you to other reception halls/venues.
We sincerely apologize for this heartache and inconvenience that this will inevitably cause. While cosmetically nearly ready to go we are short an additional required exit as one of our two exits is only 24 inches in width and we are required to be 36 inches, our main stairwell is to code, and in addition to a zoning change that we were unaware of that updated on 1/1/2011, that the city informed us of on 4/4/2011, these are the two most pressing issues. We are working with the city to resolve these issues, but do not feel that we will have adequate time to rectify this before the April-June 2011 timeframe.
We are working on a refund solution so that timely and effective refunds can be given. We hope to have this available on our website by 4/11/2011.
In the interim if you are wishing to move your event we are suggesting the following locations as they have all offered assistance directly to us and again Jessica from Event Directive can assist you as well.
Black On Burlington has a very similar look to the Stowe Building and is located just north of the river in North Kansas City, MO and currently has several opening for weddings.

Not gonna lie... I'm having a small freak-out here. I know our wedding isn't until NEXT May, but this just makes me nervous and re-think our venue choice.
...sigh... ...SIGH... I'm going to be confident here and believe that everything will work out by next May. It's really hard for the control freak in me to do that. ...sigh...
And for all the haters of my long engagement... look at the boat we would be in had we planned the wedding for THIS May!
