A Twist on Aisle Decor

How amazing are these photos???

Modern and Artsy block pattern

One-color swirls

Ever since I stumbled across this idea online, I haven't been able to forget it.  They are just so unique, modern, memorable, and AMAZING (all words I hope will describe our big day)!  My thought is to get an aisle runner and glue down silk flowers.  I'm just wondering if this idea is even doable.  I just don't know how good it would look.  I stumbled across a website that makes them, but they are WAY out of my budget.

Here are some of my thoughts on them:
  • Our flower girl will be carrying a felt and button bouquet, so she won't be tossing flower petals.
  • Would you have to seat your guests from the outside instead of down the main aisle?
  • Would you wait until everyone was seated and roll it out right before the processional?
  • Would it be something would be OK after the ceremony and I could sell on craigslist?
  • It would be a good chunk of change if it didn't end of working out... but I absolutely LOVE those pictures!

Has anyone seen this at an actual wedding before?  I'd be curious to know if it held up.  Did it look as good in real-life as these pictures?

And if I decide to do it... any idea where I can get silk flower petals in bulk for cheap?

Flowers Preview!

I guess March is teaser month, because you get just a taste of another aspect of our wedding!

I came upon this idea last summer when I was googling different wedding concepts.  I was probably searching for "pink wedding bouquet" or something like that when I found this idea.  For my bouquet and the bridesmaid's bouquets, we will use real flowers (mostly bright pink gerbera daisies).  However, the flower girl will be carrying a felt and button bouquet instead of dropping flowers.  And so they are matching, the ring bearer's pillow will have a similar flower on it, and he will be wearing a felt boutonniere.  I also plan to use a bouquet matching the flower girl's for the toss bouquet.

I considered trying to make it myself, but it didn't seem cost-efficient once you bought all the supplies.  So the week before Christmas, I found someone on Etsy, Miss Jennifer Rae, who custom-makes these bouquets.  I put in my order, saying I wanted Pink, Black, White, and Gray with stars.  She will start working on it and send me photos along the way to make sure everything is what I wanted.

I got the first round of photos emailed to me this weekend.  Here's a preview of these AMAZING flowers!  Keep in mind that they aren't made into the bouquets yet, just grouped together.

I'm SOOOOO happy with how they have turned out so far.  Can't wait to get the finished product!

Invitation Preview

I know, I know... I'm still over a year out and don't really need to be working on invitations right now, but I had ordered some paper samples a month or so ago and got the urge to start working on them.

Here's a quick preview of the "working version" of our base (the main part of the invite):

For some reason this picture looks really blurry.  It doesn't look like that in Word, I Promise!
We plan to get a pocket invite so all the the hotel/RSVP/other info will be included there.  Thoughts?  Comments? Suggestions/Ideas?
