CTT: Registry Incentives

Today I'm bringing back Controversial Topic Tuesday!

Today's Topic: Registry Incentives... and how we are (kinda) cheating the system!

I told you about our registries yesterday... and the -blah- process that was getting them all going.

Well, after playing around with the Bed, Bath, and Beyond online registry, I stumbled across their Registry Incentives.  Basically, you register for a certain dollar amount of a certain brand and they send you a free* Registry Gift.  Then, if it gets fullfilled on your registry, they send you another free* Fullfillment Incentive.

Well, the college girl in me came out (you know, the I'll-do-anything-for-a-free-t-shirt!), and I had to get the free* gifts.  So I added a few little things to our registry so I could meet the requirements for the free* stuff.  The thought is that I can get the free* gifts now and take off the extra things before it's shower/wedding time.

Out of the 11 Free* Registry Gifts listed on their website, I sent off for 5 of them (well, one of them we already wanted the products - Emerilware pots and pans).  Here's what we will (hopefully) be getting for free*:

Calphalon$500 of Calphalon5'' Santoku Knife
Emerilware $200 of Emerilware cookware Set of 2 Pro-Clad ramekins
Henckels flatware $99.99 of Henckels flatware Wood flatware storage box
Sophie Conran for Portmeirion $450 of Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Salt & pepper shaker set
Wilton Armetale $300 of Wilton Armetale Heart dish

Am I absuing the system?  Maybe.  But hey, Free* Stuff is Free* Stuff!  Would you register for stuff that you have no intention of getting if you got something free* to go with it???

*By "free" I actually mean around 50 cents each.  When we printed out registry, it was 19 pages long.  So even printing it front-to-back and 2 sheets per page required a little extra postage!
