Semi-DIY Flowers

So you know how I had my cute flower girl flowers made on Etsy?  No... Well, here's a recap picture:

So to match the flower girl, I wanted the ring bearer to have a boutonniere*.  I ordered some loose flowers from the same Etsy seller, but didn't like her boutonnieres* (the leaves were just to big).

So, I decided to add my own leaves!

All it took was some green felt and some white embroidery floss.

I just laid the flower down on some paper and traced the shape I wanted for the leaf.  I then cut out 4 layers of the leaf shape on the felt (2 for each leaf).  Using a fairly big needle, I hand-stitched around the edge of the leaf.  I then arranged the leaves how I wanted them and attached them to the flower with the same needle and thread.

As I was stitching the around the leaves, I ended up re-doing it 5 times because my stitches weren't even.  I know the final product isn't perfect, but it's cute enough for me!

*10 points to the person that invented Spell Check.  Seriously... boutonniere is one of the hardest words to spell.
